From Cork, Ireland, we send to 15-M in Spain a message of hope and solidarity, because we are completely and utterly in harmony with the global protest.

statement of support to 15-M:

May 15th, Sol Square, Madrid.

People from Madrid literally took Sol Square after the protest held by the 15M movement. They were only around 30 people. Today May 21th, all the anonimous children and grandchildren of those who lived in such a dark period of history, have not forgotten the dark shadow that were their lives. They have raised and educated a generation that can see the light, a generation based on solidarity and equality. But once we face the real world, not the one that our parents wanted to give us, though, and much more different from what a few are actually transforming, we know that we are strong if we keep united, all together. We are aware of the weapons we can use because we have no home, no job, nothing to loose and all to gain. We are the fearless generation, the ones who want it all and want it now. We have the right and the obligation to demand it.

Each one of us have a new world within ourselves and in our hearts, and there is enough anger and happiness to make a real change. Everything is happening here and now,and it is going to last!

it is not a miningless effort. After the Spanish elections, on 22nd May, we have to keep going, we musn’t let the corrupted politicians rule and conrol us any more. We have to dismantle the capitalist system that only means destruction for our world and its people. That is why from Cork, Ireland, we send you a message of hope and solidarity, because we are completely and utterly in harmony with the global protest. You have all our support, we know there are still one hundred thousands nights of revolution in which we will be able to write a new page in history, the page of the winners.

A new demonstration to express solidarity with the Spanish protests will take place in Cork on Saturday, 28th May.
The demonstration will take place this Saturday at the National Monument in Grand Parade - Cork city from 2ish pm onwards.

The protest has been called by members of Ireland’s Spanish community and by local Irish people who support the ongoing protests in Spain.

...Growing numbers of Spaniards have been taking to the streets over the last three weeks demanding a real choice in the forthcoming elections. Frustrated by a steadily rising unemployment rate, economic stagnation and a two-party sytem that offers little political choice, old and young Spaniards have been protesting in central plazas and thoroughfares the length and breadth of Spain.

Taking the Arab revolts as their inspiration the peaceful demonstrations have a distinctive grassroots feel and have been organised via social networking and word-of-mouth.

An international call for solidarity and support has been made through social networking sites, blogs and twitter, and already protests have been organised in more than 650 international cities around the world, including Galway, Cork and Dublin.

Notes:
• Up to date information on the Spanish Protests can be accessed on twitter at #SpanishRevolution
• The protests are centralized through the movement ‘Democracia Real Ya!" (for a true democracy now!) and here is their website: http://www.democraciarealya.es/
• The main aim is to create a real democracy that rises above the stagnant two-party system (dominating the Spanish parliament for the last 30 years: the social-democratic PSOE and the conservative PP) and the narrow interests of big business and finance.
• Facebook event pages have been set up for the Dublin, Cork and Galway demonstrations.

For all of the above, I am outraged.
I think I can change it. I think I can help.
I know that together we can. I think I can help.
I know that together we can.
A TRUE DEMOCRACY NOW for everyone!

------------------------------------------------------------

Manifesto in English:

"Democracy Real, Ya!" (True Democracy, Now!) Manifesto

We are ordinary people. We are like you: people, who get up every morning to study, work or find a job, people who have family and friends. People, who work hard every day to provide a better future for those around us.

Some of us consider ourselves progressive, others conservative. Some of us are believers, some not. Some of us have clearly defined ideologies, others are apolitical, but we are all concerned and angry about the political, economic, and social outlook which we see around us: corruption among politicians, businessmen, bankers, leaving us helpless, without a voice.
This situation has become normal, a daily suffering, without hope. But if we join forces, we can change it. It’s time to change things, time to build a better society together. Therefore, we strongly argue that:

• The priorities of any advanced society must be equality, progress, solidarity, freedom of culture, sustainability and development, welfare and people’s happiness.
• These are inalienable truths that we should abide by in our society: the right to housing, employment, culture, health, education, political participation, free personal development, and consumer rights for a healthy and happy life.
• The current status of our government and economic system does not take care of these rights, and in many ways is an obstacle to human progress.
• Democracy belongs to the people (demos = people, krátos = government) which means that government is made of every one of us. However, in Spain most of the political class does not even listen to us. Politicians should be bringing our voice to the institutions, facilitating the political participation of citizens through direct channels that provide the greatest benefit to the wider society, not to get rich and prosper at our expense, attending only to the dictatorship of major economic powers and holding them in power through a two-party system headed by the immovable acronym PP (conservatives, built out of old fascist party) & PSOE (the Spanish socialists).
• Lust for power and its accumulation in only a few; create inequality, tension and injustice, which leads to violence, which we reject. The obsolete and unnatural economic model fuels the social machinery in a growing spiral that consumes itself by enriching a few and sends into poverty the rest. Until the collapse.
• The will and purpose of the current system is the accumulation of money, not regarding efficiency and the welfare of society. Wasting resources, destroying the planet, creating unemployment and unhappy consumers.
• Citizens are the gears of a machine designed to enrich a minority which does not regard our needs. We are anonymous, but without us none of this would exist, because we move the world.
• If as a society we learn to not trust our future to an abstract economy, which never returns benefits for the most, we can eliminate the abuse that we are all suffering.
• We need an ethical revolution. Instead of placing money above human beings, we shall put it back to our service. We are people, not products. I am not a product of what I buy, why I buy and who I buy from.

Spanish Revolution in Cork...

Date: Sun, 2011-05-22 15:31

Workers and students from the areas of Spain living here in Cork protested today on the Grand Parade in support and solidarity with the movement for ‘Real Democracy’ in their homeland.   Over a hundred turned up in pouring rain to voice and sing their anger at the failure of capitalism and lack of hope and possibilities that is offered to us under the present ‘free market’ regime.

The protesters called on Cork people to support and join them and we did! The protest continued throughout the afternoon and was marked by its noisiness and determination.  One young protestor, Javier, told me that the protest in Spain ‘linked with those in Tahrir Square’ (in Cairo in Egypt) but ‘they are about different issues’.  The ‘system has failed and we need a new way’, he added.  ‘The protest will continue here in Cork each Saturday.  We are in solidarity with those in Spain.’

Hello there,

I think you might be interested to read about this, and if you support the cause that is moving the whole Spanish people to protest and demand a true democracy, you might want to publish it in your blog and spread the word.

Please have a look at this video to know what´s going on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZ55PC-ElSE

This is a post from an English blogger living in Spain: http://blogs.elpais.com/trans-iberian/2011/05/spain-get....html

And here is the manifesto that we are supporting, and also the date and time of the demonstration that we are planning in Dublin (there is another one in Cork as well) https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=202503726457580 (presently 493 attendees on the FB page)

Thank you in advance and I hope you can help us! May our example drives other countries to fight for what is ours, a true democracy, without having to pay for the crisis they have created.

Todo esto es indesligable de la política y por ello esta también se observa. All this is inseparable from politics, for it, the politics is also evaluated.
